A Playa Coco Sunset

Ana's Birthday Party

Isla de Ometepe

Nicaragua May 2015

Nicaragua is going home for me so there is never much to write about but I did managed to go to Ometepe after 7 years (It is an hour drive and an hour on the ferry).
Isla de Ometepe's name derives from the Nahuatl words ome (two) and tepetl (mountain), meaning two mountains. An island in Lake Nicaragua in the country of NicaraguaThe twin volcanic islands are a remote escape located in the middle of Lago de Nicaragua. There are only a few small settlements on the island, along with a number of small coffee plantations.
You can hike up both volcanoes and with the heat, length and incline both can be a grind so naturally I did neither. I was hoping to see more monkeys and exotic birds but I think it even too hot for them. Pretty quiet place but glad I went (finally).

It was a very windy day and the ferry was being battered around by the waves. A few people were getting see sick and one woman was really bad. Her friend gave her some water and the wind swepts a bit of it on some British tourists. At first they thought she was barfing on them and they were dodging the drops of water like ninjas. It was pretty funny to watch.
